Fruchier & Pottier was the continuation of the stereoscope manufacturer Toussaint & Fruchier. Pascal Pierre Fruchier continued the company with a new partner, Georges-Louis Pottier. The company patented a design for a pantoscope and a multi-view design that offered an alternative to the chain-based stereoscope.

From 1889, the company was continued by A. G. Chauvet, who also acquired the stereoscope manufacturer Marguerat & Cie in 1892. The last known reference to Chauvet dates from 1897.
