A chain-based stereoscope is a multi-view stereoscope in which stereoview holders are attached to a rotating belt or chain. As the belt is rotated, the stereoviews are brought into position in front of the lenses sequentially. The most common designs are based on a patent granted to Alexander Beckers in 1857. The stereoscope are therefore also called Beckers-type.
