American stereoscope

The term American Stereoscope was used in Europe and may refer either to the originally American chain-based stereoscope design by Alexander Beckers or to the Holmes-Bates viewer. In France, the term “Stéréoscope Américain” was used for chain-based types; in other countries, the term was generally used for Holmes-Bates viewers.
