The Stéréodrome Métallique belongs to the last generation of tray-based stereoscopes introduced at the end of the 1920s. The stereoscope is constructed entirely from metal and has a more modern appearance compared with the more common tray-based viewers.
To achieve the slim design of the base, the mechanism was modified so that only one metal finger (instead of the two fingers of the original Stéréodrome) lifts the slide.
