Roche patent

Region: United States    Period: 1850–1890

Thomas C. Roche designed a fanfold stereoscope that resembles the stereoscopes of Alexander Beckers in outward appearance. The mechanism, however, is based on a stack of paper stereoviews connected in a zigzag arrangement. The strip of stereoviews hangs over a rod. By turning a knob, a stereoview is lifted from the stack and positioned in front of the lenses.

Roche’s stereoscope was distributed by the London Stereoscopic Company in New York.
