Parallax is the apparent change in the position of an object when it is observed from different viewpoints. In stereoscopy, parallax refers to the horizontal shift between corresponding points in the left and right images of a stereoview. In a stereoscope, parallax is deliberately introduced by capturing or constructing two images from slightly different viewpoints.
