A paper stereoview contains a stereo pair that is printed on paper. Paper stereoviews are viewed by reflected light. They were often mounted on cardboard to provide rigidity. The cardboard is sometimes slightly curved. This is intentional and compensates for the limited optical quality of the Holmes–Bates stereoscope.
