The all-metal Charles Mendel Stéréoscope has a modern appearance, but it was introduced around 1895. The viewer resembles later stereoscopes that were designed for viewing aerial stereoviews. It does not incorporate a stereoview holder; instead, it is placed over a stereoview laid on a table or mounted in a book. The Charles Mendel Stéréoscope was designed to be disassembled and was distributed in a sturdy storage box.
