Charles Mendel was an author, publisher, and manufacturer of photographic equipment. He was a populariser of photography and wrote several publications aimed at beginner photographers. In addition, he published photography-related works by other authors.

Mendel's company also produced conventional cameras and stereo cameras. It designed at least one stereoscope that was marketed under the name Charles Mendel Stéréoscope.
