In a transparent stereoview, the images of the stereo pair are printed on a transparent material, such as glass or plastic. The tissue stereoview is a paper-based example of a transparency. Transparent stereoviews are illuminated using transmitted light. Stereoscopes intended for this purpose are equipped with a ground glass.
