The mechanism of Mattey’s Polnor stereoscope is based on the same patent as that of the better-known Planox Stéréoscope Magnétique. Both stereoscopes use a magnetic pickup mechanism to select en view the stereoviews. The stereoscopes also share other features. It suggests that there may have been some form of collaboration between Mattey and Plocq, the company behind the Planox brand.

The Polnor belongs to the last generation of multiview tray-based stereoscopes that were introduced in the late 1920s.
