The Stéréoscope Systeme Jahnholtz was likely the first hand-held multi-view stereoscope for glass stereoviews. The instrument was named after its designer, Jahnholtz. The viewer was not included in the catalogues of Jules Richard, and it is unclear whether the device existed only as a limited number of prototypes or was produced on any meaningful scale.

Operation:
The glass stereoviews are loaded into the upper section of the viewer. The lid contains a spring that presses the slides into place when the device is closed. By operating a plunger, a stereoview is brought in front of the lenses and subsequently moved to the lower section of the viewer.
