Clément & Gilmer

Clément & Gilmer was founded in 1890 by Eugène Gaston Clément and Georges Arthur Gilmer. The establishment of the company coincided with the acquisition of the business of Arthur Laverne, a manufacturer of projection equipment including magic lanterns. Clément & Gilmer continued the production of magic lanterns and expanded its range to include cameras, optical instruments, and stereoscopes. In 1905, the company registered the trademark Clégil.

In 1904, Clément & Gilmer patented a multi-view stereoscope design and manufactured a universal stereoscope designed by Émile Rosengard.

From approximately 1910, the business operated under the sole management of Eugène Clément as E. C. Clément. The company remained active at least until 1925.
