Region: France Period: 1850–1890 François-Napoléon-Marie Moigno* 15 April 1804, Guémené-sur-Scorff, France † 14 July 1884, Paris, France
Abbé Moigno was a French priest. He promoted stereoscopy and the projection of images. He introduced David Brewster to Jules Dubosq, which marked the beginning of the commercial production of the Brewster-type stereoscope and the popularisation of stereoscopy.
In 1852, Moigno published the book Stéréoscope, ses effets merveilleux, Pseudoscope, ses effets étranges (Stereoscope, its marvellous effects, Pseudoscope, its strange effects). It is regarded as the first book devoted to the stereoscope.
