Ruins of Paris
After the Franco-Prussian War and the Paris uprising in 1870–1871, later known as the Paris Commune, several photographers documented the city. Their work focused on the destruction caused by the Prussian siege and on the official French buildings that had been set on fire by the Communards. The publisher Léon & Lévy issued a series of 116 glass stereoviews under the title Ruines de Paris.
