
Nevers 1914
In the first weeks of World War I, an unknown photographer created a series of stereo photographs in the French city of Nevers. The images document the mobilisation of the French Army in and around the city’s railway station. They provide a rare glimpse of the opening phase of the war, when the horrors of trench warfare still seemed far away.
