Voyage au Tour du Monde appears as a book when folded closed. It bears the initials of the Paris publisher A. T. & Cie, who probably sold the viewer together with sets of stereoviews. The stereoscope was originally fitted with a chromatic reflector, which is unfortunately missing from most surviving examples.

The chromatic reflector consists of a card coloured on both sides, allowing reflected light to be tinted so that the stereoview could be viewed with colour effects. Both the stereoscope and the chromatic reflector were registered on the same day in two separate patents by Adolphe Teissonnière.
