Stereo pair

Tags: Glossary / Stereoscopy basics

A stereo pair is a set of two images of the same subject taken from slightly different horizontal viewpoints, corresponding to the left-eye and right-eye perspectives. When each image is presented separately to the corresponding eye in a stereoscope, a perception of depth is created. The physical carrier of a stereo pair is the stereoview, in which the two images are arranged and formatted for use in a stereoscope.
