Reflecting stereoscope

Also known as: Mirror stereoscope

Tag: Glossary

A reflecting stereoscope uses mirrors to present stereoscopic images. The most well-known example is the original stereoscope introduced by Charles Wheatstone in 1838. Owing to their large physical size, reflecting stereoscopes are impractical when compared with more compact refracting stereoscopes.
