Long-focus lenses have a longer focal length and a smaller angle of view and are used to make distant objects appear magnified. In stereoscopes designed for viewing autochromes, these lenses were used to reduce the visual impact of the grainy structure of the image. By increasing the distance between the lenses and the autochrome and employing long-focus lenses, the grain became less apparent.
