Hans Hildenbrand was a German photographer best known for his colour photography using the autochrome process. Many of his stereo autochromes were commercially distributed as Chromoplast-Bilder.
During the First World War, he received accreditation from the German army to photograph the front, making him the only German photographer known to have produced colour photographs at the front during the war. The stereoscopic photographs he made in the Champagne and Alsace regions were also published as Chromoplast-Bilder.
After the war, Hildenbrand worked as a photographer for National Geographic. During the Second World War, a large part of his photographic archive was destroyed in a bombing raid.
