The design patent for the viewer has not yet been found and may not be registered in the name of the manufacturer. The viewer has a focusing knob underneath the body. During focusing, the lens panel moves in and out of the body.

A report of a presentation to the Birmingham Photographic Society on 2 April 1860:

The stereoscopic pictures inspected during the evening were seen to much advantage by the aid of the new patent achromatic stereoscopes, manufactured by Messrs. Cutts, Sutton, & Co., of Sheffield. They were acknowledged to be exceedingly perfect instruments, free from the slightest distortion, and of great power.
